As experienced freelance editors and designers, we can each support your book publishing project with our vast range of skills and services. We specialise in illustrated children’s publishing, and have experience in adult fiction, lifestyle, health and wellbeing, cookbooks, travel, art and design.
Working with Gingerbread Moon Creative also gives you access to a group of freelancers that has successfully worked together for many years. We are not a book packager, but support and work with each other when required.

Editorial & Writing

Project management
From the initial book concept to print-ready files, our editors take your book through each production stage, working with your in-house team or freelance contributors. We are happy to manage the schedule and budget, and keep you updated with the book’s progress throughout.

Editing
Our freelance editors undertake all levels of editing, including structural and development edits, checking the content, structure and flow of your book’s manuscript. All copyedits match your house style, and line edits check for clarity and accuracy at a sentence-by-sentence level.

Writing
The editors at Gingerbread Moon Creative are published authors on a broad range of topics. We specialise in writing children’s non-fiction books for ages 0–12 years, as well as children’s fiction, adult gift books and lifestyle titles. Our text is thoughtfully written to follow your brief and house style.

Proofreading
As well as a meticulous proofread of the book’s final copy before print, the editors can check the layout for design consistency and image quality. We supply proofreads as clearly annotated PDFs.

Compiling glossaries & indexes
We know the importance of helping readers navigate through a book – with a thorough index. Our freelance editors can also repaginate existing indexes for reformatted books and write glossaries to explain tricky terminology.

Americanisation
Do you sell your books in the US? Our editors can take final UK files and provide fully Americanised pages. We are fully proficient in Creative Cloud, so text can be worked on in InDesign or PDF format.

Our editors can consult your book’s content to ensure it is factually correct, valid and aimed at the right audience and age group. We provide a marked-up pdf with factual references to give you a document to refer back to.
