Whether you need a non-fiction manuscript, a quick picture book proofread or a book series design concept, you’ll find the right experience and creativity to support your publishing project in our group of freelance editors and designers.

Gingerbread Moon Creative works with book publishers, packagers and agencies, and between us, we’ve made hundreds of bestselling books, for both children and adults. For your project, we can creatively manage almost everything from developing book concepts and writing to copyediting and proofreading, as well as prototyping design, commissioning illustrators, and designing interiors and covers.

We are not a book packager or an agency; simply a curated collection of publishing freelancers who support and champion each other, and work together strongly.

WHO WE ARE

A group of experienced freelancers

Developed in 2023, Gingerbread Moon Creative is a small collective of freelance editors and designers who work both independently and as a team, depending on what a project needs. Having all worked for many years in-house at publishing companies, we understand how strong freelance support can significantly contribute to creating the best books on the market.

Why the name? We wanted something memorable and after spending hours contemplating what we should be called, we put three words that we particularly liked together, simple!

We are each dedicated to producing books that are the best they can be. Between us, we’ve worked for many UK and US publishers, both children’s and adults’, including Dorling Kindersley, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Welbeck, Quarto, Bonnier and Farshore.

As freelancers, we’re happy to stand together as a collective because we’re all imaginative and ambitious, efficient and reliable. We prioritise clear communication and realistic expectations from the outset of every project and are transparent about what can be achieved within your book’s schedule, resources and budget.
